Cantarus Wins Prolific North Tech Award 2020

Cantarus is delighted to have won the coveted Best Application of Tech – Health Award at the Prolific North Awards 2020, for their membership engagement app for The College of Optometrists.

The prestigious Prolific North Tech Awards celebrates the very best in the technology industry from companies, organisations, and entrepreneurs across the North. With over 300 of the North’s tech workforce congregating at the iconic Hilton Deansgate in Manchester, the second annual event was celebrated with a gala dinner and ceremony. The Cantarus team was thrilled to have been presented with such an esteemed award, beating off an abundance of talent in a region where the tech sector has never been stronger or more competitive.

Cantarus’ world-leading MemConnect platform was launched in 2018 and has already been chosen by a range of forward-thinking organisations to deliver mobile app-based engagement in sectors including membership, public sector, healthcare, retail, and sports.

The College of Optometrists app is an innovative solution built for the organisation on the MemConnect platform to deliver real value – wrapped in unrivalled convenience – to its members. The app enables optometrists on-the-go and offline access to an extensive range of clinical and ethical guidance and resources. With an intuitive user experience and interactive elements such as ethical scenario quizzes and member surveys, the College can both increase engagement and deliver meaningful value to their members. The app enjoys an exceptional 4.9-star rating on both app stores and is used by a remarkable 16% of the College’s members every month, equating to over 4,000 hours of additional member engagement every year.

The judges commented that this was a very impressive case study that was well thought through, with excellent coverage and impact across a narrow target market.

Catherine Bithell, Director of Member Services and Communications at the College of Optometrists said:

“We are delighted to receive this award, which recognises the role of effective, innovative technology in healthcare provision. We want to make sure that College members have instant access to the latest information, guidance and support they need in day-to-day practice – and also in maintaining and developing their knowledge and skills – and our app has proved to be the ideal way to achieve this.”

The app has proven popular amongst College members too, with great feedback.

I love the app – being a student it’s got everything I need for revision, but also extra information I wouldn’t necessarily think about until pre-reg.”

CEO at Cantarus, Lee Adams adds:

“Winning awards from a renowned organisation like Prolific North is a testament to the exceptional work Cantarus produces, and the creativity and quality of the team. Cantarus looks forward to continuing to build best-in-class digital solutions going forward.”
